Horse Racing Tips – 9 August 2012 – Brighton and Haydock

We have a short but sweet kind of day today as every now and again they undo my handcuffs and I actually get to spend a day away from the computer to see some real horses, in the flesh and everything! Today is one of those rare days of luxury and I intend to make the most of it but before then, I still have a couple of horses I fancy (and as I am off to Brighton, one I can back in the flesh), so off we go with Emell in the 3.20pm down on the Sussex coast for starters.   Sticking with Richard Hannon juveniles seems pretty sensible of late and this son of Medicean was easy to back on his Windsor debut where he looked all at sea on the desperately heavy ground. Stepped up a furlong this afternoon and on (hopefully!) better ground, he will have come on a ton for that race and should be a different proposition here, while the fact that stable jockey Richard Hughes heads here is hopefully a positive (though he does have plenty of other rides too).

At Haydock I have a dodgy suggestion for you by the name of Authorship, an unraced colt to be ridden by Frankie Dettori for trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni. A son of Authorised, he set connections back 150,000 Euros at the Goffs Sale 2010 so must have been quite a looker, and word in Newmarket is he is one of their better two year olds judged on recent gallops. Fact is both Godolphin yards are blowing hot and cold (again), so it is impossible to be too confident, but he is a nice sort and has a maiden in him at the very least.
