Horse Racing Tips – 22 August 2012 – York and Kempton

York starts today and to describe it as tricky would be an understatement but then again, I have a bet to challenge all racegoers everywhere, and very possibility spark off a serious argument lol?

Frankel is the new Pegasus, a once in a lifetime wonder horse that it has been my privilege to watch, a thought shared by racegoers and punters the world over, and the very reason I am suggesting a LAY bet on him this afternoon! “Has he gone mad” you may well ask, or “shall we order him one of those nice canvas cardigans with the arms that tie behind the back?”, but no, I have very good punting and economical reasons. He has proved unbeatable at up to a mile but has never even tried this mile and a quarter trip, and despite his breeding suggesting he could even improve, he can be a bit head strong which will not help his stamina this afternoon. Now if I can work that out you can rest assured that jockeys of the caliber of Frankie Dettori, Ryan Moore et al will have also worked that out, and although I do want him to win and win well, the odds of less than 1.2 to lay, how can I resist a bet in case it all goes wrong with the down side so very minimal?

On the more positives side, though perhaps even sillier, how about a little on Jumeirah Moon in the Kempton nursery at 6.20pm, David Simcock is certainly nobody’s fool and is beginning to really build himself a deserved reputation as a very shrewd and capable trainer, and he has always held this son of Kheleyf in high enough regard (not his best two year old apparently, but certainly works as a “top five” at home), and finally got off the mark when dropped back to six furlongs on the all weather at Southwell last time out (his third race), and with Kempton expected to ride on the  slow side he should find everything is ideal for a repeat victory tonight with Hayley Turner the lady to steer him home.
