Bjorn Phau – Lukas Rosol
Rosol, forever known as the man who knocked out Nadal at Wimbledon, started very well yesterday by beating Haase in 2 sets. Phau is not the most fearsome he could meet in the second round. As a german, Phau has often taken part in this tournament, in fact it’s the 8th time he’s here and never before has he managed to pass the 2nd round.
Janko Tipsarevic – Steve Darcis
Darcis comfortably hammered Albert Montanes in the first round 6-2 6-4, so he’s red hot and heavy for Tipsarevic, who plays his first match since Wimbledon. He might be a little rusty on clay, which is why I think Darcis could be able to “steal” at least a set. Tipsarevic has taken part in Stuttgart twice before and been knocked out in the first round on both occasions.
Jack Sock – Izak van der Merwe
Jack Sock came straight into this tournament since he’s american, while van der Merve has had to go through the qualies. It hides the fact though than Sock is lying almost 200 places lower in the rankings than Merwe, and the latter has also won their only previous meeting.
