Horse Racing Tips – 5 July 2012 – Epsom

Sometimes my job is more difficult than some would have you believe, but then I also get days like today when it all falls in to place – partly thanks to the recent poor weather.  Henry Allingham is a horse I have tipped what feels like a dozen times now since he hacked up in his maiden at Folkestone on soft ground by a very easy four lengths.  Every meeting he has been declared for seems to have been abandoned so he is still waiting to set hoof back on a racecourse but is still (in my mind at least) well handicapped off a rating of 77 which hasn’t changed. His earlier form behind Poole Harbour also looks above average with that winners going in again since, and although this may well be a tougher assignment than those he has been forced to decline, having hyped him yup so many times how can I even consider deserting him now?

Amazingly (I do not do it deliberately), my second tip also runs at Epsom slightly earlier on the card when Martial Art looks to give his rivals the chop (sorry) in the maiden at 6.35pm. Those who read my articles regularly will already be aware that I am a million percent convinced that any horse trained by Andrew Balding will, by definition, improve considerably for their debut run in which case this two year old could be a good thing. Sent off at odds of 9/1 (10.0) on his debut at Salisbury, he was only beaten a short head at the line by Star Breaker despite showing all the customary sings of inexperience. The front two pulled close to four lengths clear of the third that day which I see as a positive, though the time was pretty slow so we mustn’t get too carried away. Dropped in class this evening and upped a furlong in trip (which should suit a son of Compton Place), and if he does improve, then victory seems pretty much assured (if only it was so easy eh).
