VALUEMAN – Saturday 2nd June

Unlike my colleague Sean I cannot wait for this afternoon’s Derby, with or without Frankie!  I expect we may well witness the coronation of a new superstar in Camelot.  However, as you will know he is not priced to be a Valueman selection!

Today I will take a chance on John Dunlop’s Spanish Duke, regular readers will know I’ve been following Dunlop’s runners expecting a change of fortune in the second half of May. Well there have been no winners for Dunlop but horses have been placed (6 of his last 16 runners) including the two recommended here.  He runs Spanish Duke in the 16:50 at Epsom and I think he has an excellent each-way chance, having won on this unique course over a shorter trip last year.  He seems to have plenty of staminain his breeding  to suggest he will get the extra two furlongs and should be supported at 12.00 with William Hill.

Earlier on the card I am going to take a real punt on Mark Johnston’s Vocational in the Epsom Dash.  It could be that this high class 2-y-o had not trained on, but she looked well in herself when I saw her at Hamilton and I just think this really sharp 5 furlongs may say her return to her best.  If it did she would certainly have an each-way claim and can be backed at 51.00 with Bet365 200£ Free bets! (5 places).
