Horse Racing Tips – 7 June 2012 – Sandown

I like it when the world is nice and simple, and with too many ultra competitive events around the UK today I will stick for a couple this evening at Sandown – you know it makes sense!

Anyway, excuses over and my first horse runs in the 6.25pm when I am totally convinced the Richard Hannon two year olds are about to carry all before them – like they do most years! For reasons beyond me they seem to be improving for a run this year (which is new to all us punters), but that does mean that if one runs well first time out there is a great chance it will score at the next attempt. One such example (well, hopefully), has to be Rhamnus, a son of the speedy Sakhee’s Secret He ran well when not particularly fancied on his debut at Newmarket over six furlongs, though the form is not exactly top notch (Bentleysoysterboy was back in seventh and I did my dough on him yesterday!).  He should be better suited by reverting to the minimum trip according to his breeding, and with Richard Hughes on board we have perhaps the best tactical brain on our side so a bet looks well worthy of the extra effort.

Asking a horse to be fit enough to win on heavy ground after an absence from the track of over eight months is pushing your luck and those who backed Jawhar down to 10/11 favourite at Yarmouth soon knew their fate as the four year old son of Halling struggled in the ground before fading to be beaten a street in to fourth. He had been working well at home for William Haggas so there were some long faces but the lads I spoke to had not put their money down in such atrocious conditions, deciding to wait for another day and hopefully this is it! Word is he is thought to be Listed class in which case this Class Four handicap ought to be a stroll in the park,  and as long as he doesn’t bounce after that run (it looked tiring to me), then on good to soft ground and off a remarkably generous handicap mark of just 77, he ought to be able of winning this on his way to bigger and better quality contests as the season unravels.
