Horse Racing Tips – 13 June 2012 – Hamilton & Yarmouth

Well I am still licking my wounds from yesterday when the ground was no excuse for Bunce to run so badly, but I am at least glad that I heeded my own advice and kept any bets to an absolute minimum while the racing is of a lower standard and the rain keeps falling.

All bets are dodgy bets in this weather so let’s get that fact out of the way, but I am still hopeful of a profit, starting with the lightly weighted three year old Nassau Storm who looks to have a better chance than her odds suggest in the 3.40pm at Yarmouth.  A daughter of Bahamian Bounty, she was all out to hold on over seven furlongs last time out when making all the running at Kempton to take her maiden, but she seems to be going the right way and dropping back a furlong should give her every chance of success if she can slip her field. Her handicap rating of 76 seems generous seeing as she beat a 76 rated rival in to third to take her maiden, and with the excellent Harry Bentley taking a further three pounds off her back today, she looks a sporting option if nothing else.

In the evening, I am even more sweet on the chances of Just Like Heaven, who is an example of one of those rare occasions when a horse wins a race and gets put down a couple of pounds by the handicapper! Fact is there is nothing special in this three year olds handicap, but he did at least win (and by a length and three quarters at Catterick over this five furlong trip), and with Rock Canyon and Emily Hall the only other winners in the race, you can se why I fancy his chances tonight as the only horse in the field in decent recent form.
