Horse Racing Tips – 1 June 2012 – Epsom

Well after some pretty poor racing of late at last we have some quality action to look forward to with the first of the two day Epsom Derby card, headed of course by the Oaks, the second classic for fillies after the 10000 Guineas.

Naturally, it would be rude of me not to suggest a bet but before then I like the chances of the highly regarded and (I am told) still improving Boogie Shoes who has his second outing of the season in the 3.25pm, a wide open looking mile handicap. Second at Newmarket when perhaps badly drawn near the middle he has reportedly come on a ton for that run and is really pleasing trainer Roger Varian on the Newmarket gallops and expected to run a massive race under regular jockey Neil Callan.

As for the big race, well it looks a tricky one to call but I have always been sweet on the chance of the unbeaten Vow who looks like a class act waiting to happen, and could progress to be anything by the end of the season. She was still as green as grass when hanging badly at Lingfield in the Oaks trial but seems the sort to improve even further with more experience and although I am worried about her handling of the undulations here, at the forecast price of 5/1 or thereabouts, she looks a solid bet and one worth recommending.
