VALUEMAN – Saturday 26th May

A week ago I identified that John Dunlop could be worth following during the rest of May and his horses are certainly running better.  I have just watched his high class Berling run a reasonable race on his reappearance at Goodwood and hope he can have a winner tonight.

The selection is his runner this evening, Phonic in the 20:25 at Newbury.  Phonic is a 10 race maiden but I’m hopeful that can change tonight.  The 5-y-o is the type of horse that the Arundle maestro tends to do well with.  Phonic ran a decent race on his reappearance here last May beaten less than 5 lengths in eighth place.  However, it was his run after 100 day break at Kempton in October that makes me think he is worth siding with today.  Sportingbet 100£ in Free bets! are too long at 17.00 and Phonic should be backed each-way in the 20:25 Newbury.
