More winnings yesterday though to be fair the price of the main bet was appalling, but then better a short priced winner than a long priced loser is what I was always told, and with today’s bets riskier and thus bigger prices, we can balance the week out nicely by close of play Saturday.
My first bet will be on the David Simcock trained Al Mamzar, a massive outsider for the Epsom Derby but amazingly still in the race even at this late stage, implying they think quite a bit of him. His run over a mile last year was little more than an education and I am told he has improved dramatically at home in Newmarket and will run a huge race here hence the booking of Jamie Spencer who I believe is the trainer’s favourite jockey.
For my equally dodgy main bet I like the look of Marco Botti’s Ogaritmo in the Sandown finale at 8.40pm. He caught my eye when winning first time out at Wolverhampton but was all at sea on the heavy ground at Doncaster and that run is best forgotten. Back on better going today he ought to improve again and is not badly handicapped off of a mark of 74 with the booking of Ryan Moore a little eye catching to put it mildly.
