Tennis Picks – ATP Barcelona Tuesday

Marcel Granollers – Frederico Gil
Gil hasn’t enjoyed much success the past year, but he had a good run in Monte Carlo last week, where he managed to beat such a good player as Mikhail Youzhny in the first round.

He takes on Granollers today who of course plays in front of a home crowd but he comes with 3 defeats on the trot and of the 12 matches he’s played in this tournament he’s lost 10!

He’s also often found it hard to cope with Gil against whom he has lost no less than 6 times in 8 meetings. Gil even leads him 3-1 on clay which is why today’s odds look worth a shot.

Paolo Lorenzi – Flavio Cipolla
Both have enjoyed unusual success at ATP-level recently with Lorenzi reaching the final in Houston and Cipolla reaching the semi’s in Casablanca and with only 14 places between them in the rankings, I fail to grasp why Cipolla has been made such a big favourite.

They have met each other 4 times with Lorenzi winning 3 and all meetings were on clay.
