Saturday and the racing actions comes thick and fast

Well a day off yesterday came as a pleasant surprise, but with so many meetings this Saturday not all of it was spent at rest as the form book needed reviewing on more than one occasion as we look to add more winners to the list we have compiled over the past few weeks.

Haydock put on a pretty decent National Hunt card this afternoon where my old friend Lidar will carry some of my money – yet again.  Having been lucky enough to visit the Alan King yard on quite a few occasions I can tell you that this seven year old is clearly very talented but sadly seems to have his own ideas about the game which they are struggling to turn to their advantage. Blinkers are tried for the first time in the novice chase at 1.50pm and I am 99% certain that if he puts every effort in (however unlikely that may be), that he is more than good enough to win this with his head in his chest, though I also admit that I am old school and still see headgear as a badge of shame lol!

For my other main bet this afternoon I do like the look of Solar Deity who will have to win the seven furlong Kempton handicap off a mark of 84 if he truly has classic aspirations. He is in plenty of quality races including both ours and the Irish 2000 Guineas, and as a son of Exceed And Excel, this seven furlongs should be ideal even if a fast run mile could be seen as stretching his stamina to the limit at the highest level. One win form one run makes him tricky to knock and on paper there will be precious little between him and Galician on these terms but he did look the sort to improve considerably with experience and if fit, he should take all the beating here..

Saturday Suggestions:

Sensible bet for Punters

2pts Win SOLAR DEITY 4.55pm Kempton

Silly bet for dreamers

1pt Win LIDAR 1.50pm Haydock
