Horse Racing Tips – Tuesday 17 April – Kempton and Exeter

A good run without success for the Sir Michael Stoute trained Savida yesterday, and she is certainly one for everybody’s notebook, a sure fire future winner assuming she shows even a modicum of improvement as seems most likely.

With just the one all weather meeting to work on today I will switch my attention back to the National Hunt arena starting at Kempton this afternoon, where I will be waiting for the lucky last before parting with any of my cash.  Hunter Chases are not everybody’s cup of tea I admit but that is based on historic information based on amateurish trainers and even less capable pilots in the saddle – those were the days lol!  The fact is there can be decent money if you can produce and nurture a decent jumper to sell on to the “professionals” so the bad old days are little more than ancient history in the 21st century.  For a twelve year old Whizzaar has remarkably few miles on the clock, with just the eleven races under rules and a further sixteen in point to points, so I think he may well still be at the top of his game and not yet on the dreaded downward spiral.  His recorded record shows remarkable consistency with those eleven races seeing four victories as well as four runners up spots, not bad at all for one from the “amateur” side of horse racing! His last run saw him finish a quarter of a length being King Cyrus at Taunton but as far as I can tell that was his first run since last march (under rules at least), and he seem sure to strip a whole lot fitter in the 5.20pm here this afternoon.

My only other bet runs at Exeter, again over jumps, only this time in a novice chase when I have to hope that Emma Lavelle tells jockey Dominic Elsworth to make all the running on board Easter Meteor. I cannot see another proven front runner in the small field which could mean he gets a nice soft lead and when he got away over two and a quarter milers at Exeter nothing ever got remotely close to catching him at the business end of the race and I am more than hopeful he can repeat that here and get main rival Webberys Dream off the bridle nice and early on up the home straight.
