Horse Racing Tips – 26 April – Perth

Plenty of racing today but sadly I have a funeral to attend so please at least forgive me a shortened article, I do feel I have a decent excuse for a change, and we did add to recent profits with a 100/30 winner yesterday afternoon.

For reasons beyond me the jump racing looks a lot better than the flat racing today, leading me to start off at Perth, and a second look ant anything trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies who just loves having a winner this far north and rarely leaves the track empty handed as witnessed yesterday with a nice little treble yesterday afternoon. Personally, I cannot see anything to back today (so will sit and wait), but I do like the look of Special Portrait in the Hunter Chase at 4.05pm. Still a youngster at the age of eight, he has won his last two races at Carlisle and Sedgefield and has the kind of CV I like in these races. Three and a quarter miles face him this afternoon on soft ground so stamina will be at a premium, yet my selection has won over a furlong further AND three times on soft ground so ticks all my boxes and seems worthy of a bet.

If you fancy another bet then risking the stamina of Sustainability in the 4.40pm could yet pay dividends. He is piling up the weights with four wins on the bounce seeing his rating go from 91 to 116 this afternoon, which would stop most horses.  Having said that, I get the feeling the two and a half miles here will bring further improvement, and that connections have been waiting to play that trump card to squeeze one or two more wins out of him before the handicapper has his measure.
