Here we are again heading slowly but surely towards the new turf flat season as well as a list as long as your arm of major races, and the good news is I already have some quality interviews in the pipeline, starting with Mr John Gosden in a few weeks time, so watch this space for details!
Starting on the all-weather at Kempton, I am hopeful that a long absence of 251 days will not hinder Hannibal Hayes who I am told is in sparkling form on the Al Bahathri gallop in Newmarket and should go very close in the maiden at 4.10pm. A son of Elusive Quality, he showed plenty of potential when runner up over five furlongs at Sandown despite meeting trouble in running, and with that experience under his belt, I cannot resist suggesting connections will love it if this plan comes together.
For those who like a bet over the jumps, Nicky Henderson has his horses in such fine form that any runner he sends to the track looks close to impossible to oppose! Mush Mir was good value for a lot more than the official two-length margin on his chasing debut at Warwick when he idled badly in front before pulling out enough to win as needed. Exaggerated waiting tactics are likely to be employed today to save that energy until when needed, and if he can get round safely (and he jumped well enough to suggest he should), then he is a winner waiting to happen at Exeter today.
Sensible bet for Punters
2pts Win MUSH MIR 3.30 Exeter
Silly bets for dreamers:
2pts Win Hannibal Hayes 4.10pm Kempton
