Two teams that have been in and out of form all season meet at Pride Park on Thursday night with mid table obscurity being the best for both teams. The East Midlands clash between Derby County and Leicester City is always looked for by the fans, but they were probably expecting this to be a promotion clash, but alas not!
City were one of the favourites for promotion but have slipped down the league into 13th, while Derby are 2 places below them. Relegation is not on the cards unless both alarmingly lose the remainder of their matches, so Pride is the name of the game.
County are without a win in 6, after Nigel Clough’s men had 5 straight victories. The problem is scoring with only 2 goals in 6 games and they came in the same game!
City have a slightly better record with 3 wins in 6 and only failing to score in 1 of those games. So given the current form, City could be good value to take the 3 points from Pride Park.
In the reverse fixture The Foxes triumphed with a convincing 4-0 victory, which must have hurt The Rams, but I can see City doing the double with a tight victory and the East Midlands bragging rights.
Note…. Leicester have won to nil in their last three meetings with the Rams. Also, David Nugent has scored four goals in Leicester’s last five league games.
