This is clearly not a reference to the England cricket team, but does apply to one of the runners at Kempton later today. The horse is Dvinsky and the 11-y-o trained by Paul Howling notches up his double ton of runs in the 6 furlong handicap at 18.00.
I am not normally a sentimentalist, however, having seen the 14-y-o The Tatling end his 176 race career with a win in December, it made me look at this race to see if we might get another story-book ending today! The horse has been running consistantly finishing third on his last two runs over course and distance and beating two of the opposition last time out. He is an eight time course winner, six over this distance and was last successful off a mark of 3lbs higher than he carries today.
A couple of his opponents are likely to prove best over 7 furlongs, so with the trainer having 1 winner and three placed horses from his last five runners, I recommend a small each-way bet on Dvinsky at 9.50 with Sportingbet.
Earlier on the card it may pay to have a similar each-way bet on the Robert Eddery trained Invent. The recent form figures for this horse are poor, but his third place at Yarmouth last July is where there is some encouragement. In their race analysis The Racing Post noted that he might be better over a longer trip, which he gets today, but was susbequently raced over shorter distances. There has been a whisper for him on our forum and at 17.00 he is worth supporting each-way with a Best Guaranteed Odds form such as Bet365.
