Tennis Picks – WTA Doha – Wednesday

Yanina Wickmayer – Francesca Schiavone
Wickmayer had very little trouble overcoming Morita in the first round, while Schiavone comes here after playing on clay during the weekend and this is her first match this week.

They have met each other 3 times before, on 3 different surfaces, and Wickmayer has won them all. No reason to go against that.

Kateryna Bondarenko – Flavia Pennetta
Bondarenko has come through the qualies, which means she has won 3 matches on the trot now. Rarely does she do much better and rarely does she do well against Pennetta.

The Italian has won their last 3 meetings and leads 4-1 overall. She has a quarterfinal to defend and I’m guessing she’ll take down the Ukrainian.

Tsvetana Pironkova – Angelique Kerber
Pironkova hammered Hercog in the first round but Hercog is in appaling shape, very much unlike Kerber.

The German confirmed her good form yesterday when taking down Lisicki in 3 sets after winning the title in Paris on Sunday.

She beat Pironkova in 2 sets last year in their only previous meeting.
