All these abandonment are driving me insane as Wincanton announced yesterday they were sure of going ahead, before giving up at the last minute so what is a man supposed to do?
The answer today is obviously to stick to the all-weather and luckily for me we have three meetings to go through including a classy one from Meydan (Dubai), which includes the United Arab Emirates 1000 Guineas so I thought I would start there. Perhaps unsurprisingly Mahmood Al Zarooni looks to hold all the aces with the Godolphin fillies Gamilati and Pimpernel but which of the two is the more difficult question to answer. Gamiilati has the better recent form including an easy victory last time out, but Pimpernel may yet be the better long-term prospect so I will have a small reverse forecast on the two just in case it goes against Frankie Dettori here.
For the best bet I will stick with an old favourite who has done little wrong in the shape of Captain Obvious who needs to be backed again in the Group Three sprint at 1.25pm. Trained in Singapore where they know a bit or two about sprinters (Rocket Man, for example), he has only had four races which is pretty amazing for a seven year old, but the patience is already paying off with three wins in a row and over £110,000 in prize money. This is another step up the racing ladder but he own with a bit in hand last time out and if he can get away smartly and sit either in front or in the front three or four, I can see him adding more to his prize money before his connections dream of bigger and better things around the racing world, possibly culminating with a crack at the Krisflyer Sprint back home in Singapore in May.
Friday Suggestions:
Sensible bet for Punters
2pts Win CAPTAIN OBVIOUS 1.25pm Meydan (Dubai)
Silly bet for dreamers:
1pt reverse forecast GAMILATI and PIMPERNEL 12.10-am Meydan (Dubai)
