Horse Racing Tips – February 2 – Wincanton

Mother nature is getting in the way of my work a bit of late with two meetings abandoned yesterday, one already gone from his afternoon, and a cold snap that might make hell freeze over on it’s way (allegedly), so what can you do? My point is, a sort of “in advance, just in case” apology, as I have to write this the day before (can’t wait for inspections) so if I do end up tipping at abandoned meetings, there is not a lot I can do about it and it is NOT deliberate.

This afternoon we will (hopefully) start at Wincanton where I have high hopes we can land our main bets with Queen’s Bay in the novice hurdle at 3.15pm. Her form is absolutely top drawer in the context of this race and she should be everybody’s NAP today as a close up fourth behind Violin Davis in a Class two contest is way better than any of these can muster, yet with horses from the yards of the likes of Philip Hobbs and Alan King, I am hopeful the price might not be as low as it should be

Backing a fourteen year old is not something I can ever remember doing before in all my years, but Ollie Magern would pick this lot up and carry them at his best, and I am hopeful form is permanent? Entering the Hunter Chase arena at his age is a bold move but it may well reignite his enthusiasm (not that I have seen any evidence of it e ever going away), and if he is fit (which won’t be easy at that age), then he ought to win the 4.15pm without breaking sweat.
