Monday 2nd January – Scottish selections

As I have been up in Scotland for the New Year festivities, so it seems only fair to go to Ayr today for the racing selections.

For my first pick I side with a trainer who I visited on New Years’ Eve, Lucinda Russell.  She runs Presecco today in the two and half mile chase and this 10-y-o loves it around the Ayshire track.  Prosecco has visited the course four times and has three wins and a second. All three wins were over the two mile trip, but recent runs at Perth and Newcastle highlight the extra half mile should not be a problem.  Prosecco is a confident selection to win today at 5.00 with Bet365.

The other From The Stables trainer with runners at Ayr today is Nicky Richards, who hit form in December with four winners and got 2012 off to a good start with a winner yesterday.  He runs three today, but the one I like is Getting Ready in the race at 12:55.  This gelding ran a nice race on debut to finish third, before unluckily getting carried out in his next race.  Getting Ready should also be backed to win today at 2.75 with Betfred.

As yesterday we will also try a small stakes double, this time a win only bet at odds of  13.2o with Bet365.
