Saturday 19th November – Will the Master bounce back?

Saturday sees the return of two of  the great chasers of the last few years’ with Long Run and Kauto Star renewing rivalries at Haydock.  However, the horse that has put up the best chasing performance (in my view) in recent years will be running at Ascot.  That horse like Kauto Star is trained by Paul Nicholls and few that were there at Cheltenham in 2008, will forget the display of Master Minded in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Three years later the horse has never quite repeated that performance, but he is still a brilliant chaser on his day. He does, however, have the odd bad run and has suffered defeat in four of his last nine starts, having won all bar one of his previous eight.  That might be why he is available at 3.00 for Saturday’s Ascot Amlin 1965 chase.  Another reason is he is taking on a new crop of challengers in Captain Chris and Medermit.  Whilst Master Minded was not at his best last time at Aintree, I expect to see a different horse on Saturday and giving small amounts of weight away to his principal rivals I expect a repeat of last success in this race.

Master Minded is a confident win bet at 3.00 which is available generally for the Ascot 14.10 on Saturday.
