After a fantastic October, November has not been my best month and ahead of today’s picks, I am 6 points down for the month. This has mainly been due to the failure of my ante-post selections. However, a number of those ante-post selections and some of my daily selections have provided the opportunity to trade bets, that is back-to-lay and guarantee a profit.
I wrote a back-to-lay guide last month and highlighted with a couple of selections how it could be used. Well those of you that have utilised this concept over the last month, would have seen the benefit. A couple of notable examples from this months’ selections were Goldikova in the Breeders’ Cup. The recommended bet was 3 points win at 3.75, but the mare than traded a lot shorter as the race approached and it would have been possible to lay the bet at less than 2.50. Laying the mare for 4 points at those odds, would have guaranteed a profit as follows:
Goldikova wins, 3 points win at 3.75 provides a surplus of 8.25, although the lay bet would mean 6 points needed to be paid out. Overall a profit of 2.25 points.
Goldikova does not win (this was the case, she was third), the win bet means a 3 point deficit, but the lay bet now provides a profit of 4 points, meaning a one point gain.
Similar opportunities existed elsewhere with Noble Alan in the Paddy Power 50£ in Free bets!, recommended at 21.00, he could have been layed at single figures in running, ahead of unseating 4 fences from home. Whilst even yesterday’s selection Commemorate who was advised at 3.75, could have been layed at around 2.50 an hour or so before the race.
