Tennis Picks – Vienna and St. Petersburg

Dudi Sela – Dusan Lajovic
Lajovic is only ranked number 228 in the world whereas Sela in number 97, but the latter is such an erratic character that he can lose to almost anyone on any given day, so why not Lajovic?

The serb has had a great tournament so far, he’s come through the qualies, and then beat Jeremy Chardy in the first round. He has yet to drop to set and is worth a small punt on this Thursday.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez – Jürgen Melzer
I tried betting against Garcia-Lopez in the first round which he has never passed before in 3 attempts, and I’ll try my luck again when he meets the local favourite.

Jürgen Melzer has won the title here in Vienna in both 2009 and 2010. The year before he reached the quarterfinals. This is his home turf, this is his “Kingdom” and he’ll defend it vigorously.
