Novak Djokovic – Roger Federer 2
Novak Djokovic won the first Grand Slam of the year. In the 2nd he lost to Federer in the semifinal. Then he won the 3rd Grand Slam of the year, and now, in the 4th, he faces Federer in the semifinal again. Do we spot a pattern here? Well, maybe not a pattern that’ll fully hold up in court but there’s not doubt in my mind where my money is going.
Federer is the King of Flushing Meadows, winning the title 5 times on the trot and he’s played some awesome tennis along the way to this match. He’s feeling confident, on top of his game and rest assured he’ll give it all he can to reach another Grand Slam-final.
They met last year at this stage with Djokovic winning after Federer gave up match balls along the way. He’ll be burning to avenge that.
Djokovic…well, I probably won’t have to into all his success this year, and it’ll be no surprise to see him win this match. But the value is on Federer, if you ask me.
Another way to go here is betting on at least 4 sets. They played a thrilling 4 setter at the French Open, and massive 5 setter last year here at US Open and both are so good and determined to win that only the slighest mistake from the opponent will be punished. I don’t think anyone will hold the other one off in only 3 sets.
Andy Murray – Rafael Nadal 2
Their last 4 meetings have been really, really good tennis matches, but nevertheless Nadal has won them all. He’s taken out Murray in the semifinal of the last 2 Grand Slam-tournaments and holds a 12-5 h2h advantage over the Scot. It’s hard to go against.
