Maria Sharapova – Samantha Stosur 1
Stosur reached the final in Canada last week, and has now reached the quarters here in Cincinatti, but I believe her run is coming to an end this afternoon.
Sharapova must be rather pleased running into Stosur here as she holds an amazing grip over the Australian.
They’ve played 8 times before and Sharapova has simply won every single one. She has won on grass, hard court, clay and indoors and in their last 4 meetings, 2 of them this year, she hasn’t come remotely close to giving up a set.
Too good an odds to turn down.
Rafael Nadal – Mardy Fish 1
One also has to admire the odds on offer for Rafael Nadal. I know he hasn’t looked really sharp of late, and I know that Fish is flying high.
Nevertheless – can you turn down odds 1.68 with the Spaniard when he plays an opponent against whom he leads 6-0? And they haven’t even played on clay, Nadal’s favourite surface.
Gilles Simon – Andy Murray 2
We can cut it short and sweet with this match. I simply don’t think Murray will the chance to enter the semi’s when facing Simon.
They have played 6 times before, with Murray winning the last 6, losing only 1 set in the way.
