Wimbledon – Monday

Donald Young – Alex Bogomolov Jr. 1
I don’t think much separates these two, and Bogomolov’s not a more complete player than Young on grass, so I see some value in going after odds above 2.20 on Donald Young.

Tobias Kamke – Blaz Kavcic 1
Kavcic has won their two previous meetings, both played in 2011 but on clay, and apparently he doesn’t enjoy playing on grass. He has lost his last five matches on grass and has not won a match on this surface since 2009.

Ivan Ljubicic – Marin Cilic 2
Grass has never Ivan’s surface and in the last two, and four of the six recent visits to Wimbledon, he’s gone out in the first round. He certainly risks doing that again here against such a class player.

Martin Fischer – Simone Bolelli 1
Where Fischer has actually gone through the qualifiers tournament to be here, Bolelli is only here as a lucky loser, after he lost his last qualifying match. Fischer did the same last year and also won his first round match.

Francesca Schiavone – Jelena Dokic 2
They have met 3 times before, the first 2 times back in 2000 and 2001 when Dokic won both meetings. Then they met each other again in 2011. Amazingly Dokic won again, so maybe she just has a really good read on the Italian?

Ayumi Morita – Tamira Paszek 2
1-0 in h2h, and looks like a better grass player.

Irina Falconi – Stephanie Dubois 1
Dubois won their first two meetings. Falconi the next two, and there is perhaps a natural cause to that fact. Falconi, the young lioness emerging.

Kateryna Bondarenko – Alize Cornet 1
Bondarenko won the junior title at Wimbledon, and enjoy playing on grass. Cornet doesn’t.

Naomi Broadly – Anne Keothavong 2
They have met 2 times before, both times on grass and both times Broady lost.
