Wimbledon – Friday day 5

Juan Martin Del Potro – Gilles Simon tie break in match
Simon has played three matches on grass this year. In all three there was a tie break. In two of the last three games of Del Potro’s, there’s been a total of three tie-breaks. They have met twice, and there has been a tie break in both.

Juan Martin Del Potro – Gilles Simon 2
Del Potro has been at Wimbledon three times before, and this is the second time that he’s gone beyond the 2nd round. This is not to say he won’t be able to go any further, but Simon’s chances are underestimated with these odds. They have met twice and won a match each. The match won by Del Potro went over 5 sets.

Daniela Hantuchova – Victoria Azarenka 1
Hantuchova has shown good form lately, while Azarenka has dropped her’s slightly since during the French Open. The way in which Hantuchova played on grass this season, makes it worth gambling on her today. In any case, the price of 2.70 is impressive when you consider she has actually won their  two meetings. The latest one in February.

Yanina Wickmayer – Svetlana Kuznetsova 2
One might think that the grass might be good for the Wickmayer’s game, but it seems to be troubling her to get going on this surface, and she never did anything special here in Wimbledon before. Kuznetsova reached the quarterfinals and has a 2-0 lead in direct confrontations with Wickmayer. We’re aiming for a third.

Rafael Nadal – Gilles Muller (0-8.5) 2
I’d be the first to be surprised if Nadal doesn’t win this match, but I think Muller can push him enough to not lose by more than 8 games. Muller is an amazing server when he get’s rolling, and he seems high on confidende at present. Nadal knows very well how good a server Muller is, as Muller defeated him here at Wimbledon! The year was 2005 and in 4 sets.
