Spread betting: Buying is value at Ewood Park

Blackburn v West Ham. Whilst many thought these two could be there or there abouts in the relegation zone, I doubt many would have placed the Hammers bottom, ahead of Blackpool.

Especially West Ham fans. A poll on a Hammers forum has 62% of them wanting Avram out half an hour ago, and only 24% thinking he should have more time. Admittedly he hasn’t had much to work with. The signings of Frederic Piquionne and Tal Ben Haim, really didn’t particularly strengthen the squad, winger Pablo Barrera has hardly set the world alight either. Big signing Thomas Hitzlsperger has been out all season too. I’ve also been disappointed with Carlton Cole. 3 goals in 21 appearances is poor whichever way you look at it. We all thought he’d turned the corner and was going to start fighting his way into the England team. Who knows what’s happened there? Not the hammers fans, many of who’m would be happy to see him out the door in January.

You also feel for Scott Parker. He must feel as if he’s battling relegation one handed.

Even the fans are somewhat resigned to the fact. One analogy from a fans forum that made me chuckle was that with their 35 points last year they should have gone down, so this year it’s their turn. Much like the film “Final Destination”

Its pretty bleak this week at the Boleyn Ground.

What of their opponents?

Blackburn were steady under Big Sam. We all know what he’ll give you. Organization, 100% from the players and resilience. All good qualities, made even more impressive given the budgets available at  Ewood Park.

He split the fans into two camps and its fair to say that a lot were happy to see him leave.

Lets not beat around the bush, watching his teams, as a neutral at least, is physically painful.

Not that there aren’t other teams that follow suit, but Blackburn have been one to avoid on TV for a while now. The Chicken brothers admitted this is what cost him his job

However, Sam has turned Ewood Park into something of a Fortress, losing only 4 or 5 games there since he took over. Not bad.

It’s a big test for Steve Kean. What can he do differently? With their players, are Rovers about to become Barcelona? Incisive balls through the defence to carve teams up like Christmas turkey?

Of course they aren’t. It’ll be the same, but with someone probably not quite as good in charge.

Their last two meetings have been 0-0. All set for tedious, low scoring game.

So that’s why I recommend a buy of the total goal minutes @ 142.

Steve Kean, is going to try and give the Chicken brothers the entertaining football they want. He’ll be after the big payday and prestige that being a premiership manager gives you. They have also failed to score in a match only once this season.

Avram Grant is running quick out of time and needs some results fast. Draws aren’t going to cut it anymore, so caution has to be thrown to the wind. Scoring goals has been the hammers problem this season and Avrams got about three matches to sort that out. Starting on Saturday
