Football: Boxing Day action on Old Trafford

Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United are top of the league and now they host ex United captain Steve Bruce’s Sunderland. The Black Cats are 6th in the league and Niall Quinn must be pleased to see the progress his club have made this season.

Unavailable: Bramble, Campbell, Meyler, Turner, Carson, Kilgallon and Mensah are injured. Welbeck not able to play due to United contract and Cattermole is suspended.  

These two teams have played goal shy matches in Sunderland over the last few seasons. However 2-2 at Olf Trafford in this fixture last year and it showed Brucie can play attacking football away from home. I think he will start with both Bent and Gyan up front, and Sunderland have enough fire power going forward to score a goal. Big missings in the defence though, and Man Utd will be hard to stop. An entertaining match expected.
